District-Scale Copper Targets, But Can Drilling Confirm a System?

Tribeca Resources has two projects: La Higuera, an IOCG copper-gold project about 40 km north of La Serena in the Coquimbo region, and Jiguata, a large porphyry copper-molybdenum-gold system with an overlying gold-silver epithermal target in the Tarapacá region near the Bolivian border. It also holds Chiricuto, a smaller IOCG project in the Mantoverde district next to Capstone Copper’s Mantoverde and Santo Domingo operations, currently secondary. This was a catch-up interview covering field and drilling progress since May, pending assay results, financing, and an option payment restructuring.

New Type of Royalty Company, But Can They Really Scale the Model?

Nations Royalty buys and pools mining royalty and impact benefit agreement (IBA) payments owned by First Nations. Its founding portfolio, contributed by the Nisga’a Nation, covers five interests tied to BC’s Golden Triangle and northern BC mining region: Brucejack (Newmont), KSM (Seabridge Gold), Premier and Red Mountain (Cambria Gold Mines), and Kitsault (New Moly). In this conversation, I asked the CEO how these unusual mineral-tax-linked payments work, the company’s cash position, and progress toward signing new Indigenous partnerships. TL;DR Only one of the five assets, Brucejack, is currently paying: C$2.2 million in royalty revenue last quarter (about C$8.8 million annualized) against roughly C$3.3 million a year in overhead, so the company says it’s profitable and will be free cash flow positive once that gold-silver mine’s payments are received. It is an Archean turbidite-hosted quartz vein deposit where the A-Zone was mined intermittently through the 1990s, and the company’s whole plan is to restart it at 100 tonnes per day. In this interview, I got an introduction to the story, and was able to ask more questions about permitting, specifically the water management plan and baseline water sampling that is now holding up the restart, plus insider ownership, royalties, mining method, and how you would even value the thing without a technical study.
