A grab sample is a sample from a rock outcrop that is assayed to determine if valuable elements are contained in the rock.
A grab sample is not intended to be representative of the deposit. Usually, the best-looking material is “grabbed” to have assays done on it.
Those are the often rocks that end up on companies’ presentations. However, investment decisions should not be made based on the grades reported in grab samples.
